James Gold has served in senior management positions with U.S. media companies for over thirty years. His professional experience includes leadership roles in strategic planning, market research, print and digital brand development, marketing communications, customer relationship management and strategic transformational change. Prior to his position as Publisher, Mr. Gold served as Chief Marketing Officer of The New York Times Regional Media Group where he led strategy formulation, brand portfolio development and organizational transformation. Mr. Gold’s professional experience includes both corporate and entrepreneurial leadership. His corporate management experience includes newspapers, business publications and digital media. He has led the development of new print and digital brands, the reorganization of circulation and advertising departments, the start-up of a digital media unit, the group-wide implementation of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) technology, the creation of shared resource centers for multiple media properties and the formation of strategic partnerships to provide outsourced solutions for key marketing functions. His entrepreneurial spirit was realized in founding his own award-winning magazine and a strategic consulting firm focused on CRM and brand development. Mr. Gold has completed executive management programs at the American Press Institute and the Poynter Institute for Media Studies. He is a past president of the International News Media Marketing Association, North American Board of Directors. He has spoken about strategic transformation, brand portfolio development, organizational transformation, consumer marketing and CRM at media conferences throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and South East Asia.
Dave Perry is editor of Aurora Magazine and The Aurora Sentinel, a digital daily and print weekly newspaper covering the greater Aurora region. Mr. Perry received his B.S. in Chemistry and Psychology from The University of Colorado and worked in human services in Denver until 1988. He received his B.A. in Journalism and English from Metro State College of Denver. Mr. Perry has been with the Sentinel for 21 years. He has written for and been a staffer for AP, The High Timber Times, The Denver Post, The Arvada Sentinel and Denver Westword. He has written for numerous other magazines and newspapers. Mr. Perry’s columns, editorials and others stories have netted dozens of awards from peers and interest groups, taking top honors every year for more than 30 years.
Melanie Coker is a creative problem solver with 23 years of newspaper marketing experience with The New York Times Company spanning circulation customer service, circulation marketing, consumer and corporate marketing. She specializes in applying a holistic view of business systems, telephony, marketing, call center operations, business processes, training, financial management and leadership skills necessary to implement a variety of projects successfully. Whether the project is domestic or offshore, in-sourced or outsourced, for one newspaper or fifteen, Ms. Coker has done it all. Through careful use of shared resource management vendors, site liaisons and corporate directors can work in harmony. Hundreds of projects large and small successfully implemented include two outsourced call centers, an in-sourced advertising CRM call center and a centralized corporate circulation marketing team. A 2012 graduate of Full Sail University with an Entertainment Business degree, Melanie is continually enhancing her real-world knowledge and skills with a well-rounded and in-depth study of business and management, focusing on how those skills can be applied in the media, television, music, film and theatre industries.
